Two hundred Icelandic customers in 2023
The Icelandic branch of the translation agency Diction, celebrated its first year on the market at the end of 2023. More than 200 Icelandic customers, consisting of businesses, private individuals and public institutions, have chosen Diction as a provider of language services. The Icelandic branch has also carried out more than 360 different language projects during the first year.

Passion for language
– There is a great demand for high-quality translations in Iceland. Although relatively few speak and write Icelandic worldwide, Icelanders are very concerned about their mother tongue. The requirements are particularly high when it comes to translations into Icelandic, and therefore there are many companies, institutions and individuals who turn to professionals to carry out such projects, says Andri Freyr Ríkarðsson, project manager at Diction Ísland.

66°North, Play Airlines and Hagar
Despite being new to the market, Diction Ísland has already assisted many of the country's largest companies with translation and proofreading. Clothing producer 66°North, Play Airlines and Iceland's largest grocery retailer, Hagar, were among the first 200 customers. The Icelandic Transport Authority, the National and University Library, and the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture are also among those who have entrusted their translations and proofreading to Diction Ísland.

Economic growth in Iceland
Martin Boberg, the founder of Diction, looks forward to being a part of Iceland's bright future. – I am very impressed by the economic development in Iceland in recent years. Icelanders have a unique history, and despite their geographical distance from the rest of Europe, they have managed to make themselves known all over the world. Diction would like to be a part of this positive journey together with Iceland.

Skjalaþýðing – a special service for legal translations
To handle the high demand from Icelandic customers for authorized translations, Diction has founded the subsidiary Skjalaþýðing, which collaborates with many of the authorized translators in Iceland and abroad. The subsidiary was established to split the focus in the Icelandic branch and offer customers in-depth knowledge about special procedures for legal translation. You can find more information about Skjalaþýðing at Skjalathyding.is.

Increasing demand for Polish translations
Not surprisingly, most of the translation, proofreading and content writing at Diction Ísland is done in Icelandic. However, due to the increasing presence of Polish residents in Iceland, Diction has experienced a surprisingly high demand for translations to and from Polish. Therefore, Diction Ísland has adjusted its services to meet this demand and now has versatile translators who can perform all kinds of language services in Polish.
